Vogue-published photographer Julian Tse grew up in London to parents from Mauritius and China.

Armed with an Oxford degree in Mathematics, he had a 10-year career in financial services, as an actuary. Meanwhile, he photographed events, weddings and travels, discovering how some of his images were having a strong emotional impact on people.

Planning a portrait shoot with an incredibly warm but elderly Swiss lady in 2015 was a turning point. Just before their session, which she had been so excited about, she was suddenly admitted to hospital. Julian realised that in the limited time he has in this world, he should spend his ability and energy where he can make a personal and lasting positive impact on others.

He decided it would be worth leaving his finance career to fully pursue photography. Now armed with a very heavy camera, a kind heart and an open mind, he focuses on discovering and capturing precious human moments around him.
